Let’s Get Social
If you know me, you know I’m a pretty social guy. So utilizing social media is right up my alley. It’s been great for my business as well – being able to talk about jobs I’m working on and be able to show pictures of the jobs. Since starting up Mark Campbell Creative, my sites have grown. And while I hope that you already know what’s up on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Yelp, for those new fans, I thought I’d give an overview and in a future blog, throw out some ideas for expansion – along with requests for your help.
I’ve found that Flickr is the best for me, as it is a photo-sharing site. I can upload my photos, view other photographers’ photos (both amateur and professional), and interact with users in groups.
Twitter is another great conversational tool, where I can interact with people in all the different industries I dabble in. There are some great photographers who share photo news (@FlakPhoto, @photoshelter, @TrevorCurrent), some awesome wedding-industry guys (@themanregistry, @thegroomsays, @iamstaggered), and some other all-around awesome tweeters.
The other sites are good to keep a presence in, and I’ll be looking to expand Facebook and YouTube coming soon. Once I start doing the “How I See Chicago” series again regularly, I’m going to have a contest on Facebook with clues to guess where I’m photographing each week’s series. And as my videography work grows, the YouTube channel will follow. As they say, “If you build it, he will come.”
Expanded blogs with some thoughts on the different sites to come soon. But if you follow me on Twitter @campbellcreativ, I’ll give you some sneak peeks sooner. In 140 characters or less.
